Our Story

A seventeenth generation registani*, Neeraj has merged his passion for water and love for storytelling to create unique cultural tours in Jaipur. He is a graduate from Tufts University, Boston.

Heritage Water Walks is a passion project designed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan to curious visitors.

Being a living desert, it has the most distinctive culture and unique traditions, which remain undiscovered. Through Heritage Water Walks, it is our earnest attempt to present this ‘unique side’ of the desert state.

FAQs

Do locals enjoy the tours too or is it mostly for tourists?

Our tours have been enjoyed by both locals and tourists. We encourage locals to experience being a tourist in their own town by taking our tours. You’ll be surprised how much you didn’t know about your city, and how much more you’ll appreciate your hometown at the end of the tour!

Are special group or private tours available?

Yes. Our tours are especially appropriate for educational groups, corporate groups, family and school reunions, alumni associations, and similar groups. We can make special arrangements to accommodate special groups, and offer a discounted group rate. Please contact us for more information.

What is the tour duration and distance covered?

All of our walking tours cover approximately 1 to 1.5 kilometres at a leisurely pace, lasting about 1.5 to 2 hours. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and dressing appropriately for heat/cold. We will be entering a forest in Nahargarh Water Walk, so please wear comfortable body covering clothing.

What about Covid_19 preventative measures?

All our tour expert/s are vaccinated (Covishield vaccine, which is recognized by the WHO, globally). All Heritage Water Walks tours are conducted outdoors in open or forested spaces. We strictly observe social distancing norms.

Different tours have different group size requirements. Please contact us to know about the minimum group size for a specific tour.

Do you provide water bottles?

We do not provide water bottles.

Cell phone use during the tour?

To ensure smooth operation of the tour and consideration for other tour participants we ask that you turn ringers and alerts off or switch them to silent mode. If you must have a phone conversation during the tour, we would appreciate your stepping away from the group so as not to disrupt anyone’s experience.

What about Tipping?

Tipping is encouraged but never expected. The tour leader is rendering you a service, and as such, a tip is appreciated if you feel they have done a good job.

Are the tour routes wheelchair-accessible?

Unfortunately, owing to the terrain none of our tours are wheelchair friendly presently.

Neeraj has a very interesting way of storytelling. It made the tour a lot more exciting and interesting. He not only has in depth knowledge about the subject but also is very humble and friendly. The tour is full of historical facts about rajasthan’s lineages and the heritage on which it’s built upon. A must visit for anyone visiting Jaipur or even the local people of Jaipur.
